Overall, the jobs of restaurants and hotels were higher than others tourism sectors all over the period. The travel and tours and sport and leisure were fluctuated slightly in the periods.
In terms of restaurants, the amount of jobs were just below 1,100 in 1989. In 1994 the figure increased to around 1,300, while the number of jobs in hotels was higher at approximately 1,400. However, in 1999, restaurants jobs continued to rise overtook hotels, reaching about 1,400, while hotel jobs declined around 1,200. Moreover, in 2004, employment in restaurants picked up reaching about 1,800 and hotels fell steadily just below 1,200.
Looking at the remaining sectors, the number of jobs in sport and leisure was approximately 900 in 1989 before decreasing around 700 in 1994. It increased just over 1,000 before falling again around 800 in 2004 and 600 in 2009. While, tourism and tours experienced some fluctuations. In 1989, the figure rose from 800 to just over 1,000 in 1994, but decreased gradually to approximately 900 and 400 in 2004.
