The line graph shows the phone ownership from three renowned phone companies in Montreal between 2010 and 2015.
Overall, all three brands experienced growth of varying degrees in their user counts, with Apple seeing the most pronounced rise and maintaining its leading position throughout the period except in 2012, when Samsun slightly overtook it. Samsung and Nokia followed a similar pattern of increase until 2012, but their trends started to diverge afterwards, with the former falling back and the latter stabilizing by 2015.
Apple was the market leader for most of the timeframe. In 2010, for example, a substantial 35 million people used iPhone, a figure that exhibited a moderate increase to 50 million in 2014 before surging to a peak of around 68 million in the final year. This considerable upward trend in users of Apple devices allowed the company to enjoy the largest user base.
Samsung was the second most preferred option among users. Starting the period with 26 million people, the company witnessed a significant rise to 47 million in 2012, temporarily surpassing Apple. This surge, however, was short-lived, as the figure almost halved to 32 million in 2014 prior to growing noticeably to 44 million over the following year.
The number of Nokia users, on the other hand, was considerably lower, at 16 million – half the user count of Apple. Despite this, Nokia users increased substantially to 39 million in just two years, and this number remained unchanged at 42 million until the end, slightly lagging behind Samsung.
