The observation starts from 1970 to 2020 and shows us dramatical increase between 1970 and 2010, it doubles from 3 to 6 millions in the first 10 years. The number of people increased by a third in 1980. Then the total number of parents with no spouse rose steadly: about 2 millions each 10 years until it reached a peak in 2010, however, the smallest increase was seen.

From 10 millions in 2010 more the trend reversed and the number of single parents decreased. In 2020 the amount was exactly 10 million, a little bit bigger to compare with 2000 before the maximum.
