Overall, while the total sale of European and Africa, and North America witnessed a decrease, the opposite trend was true for Asia and South America varied little. Furthermore, European and Africa took the lead in the total and the figure for that of South America was smallest over the surveyed period.
In 2002, the percentage of drug company’s total sale in European and Africa, and North America started at 44% and 33%, respectively. Regarding the former, it raised and reached its peak at 48% in 2004 before dropped to its bottom (40%) in 2006. Despite a fall, European and Africa still ranked first. Concerning the latter, it decreased gradually to 21% in 2005 and remained the same in the following year.
A more detailed looking at Asia and South America, these figure was relatively low at the starting point. Asia accounted for 12% of total sales in 2002, it then experienced a noteworthy increase, reaching 28% and surpassing North America. It was followed by South America, recording a figure of 11% in 2002. In the next two years, the share of sales in South America witnessed a slight decrease to 6%, then raised to 11% in 2005 and 2006.
