The stacked bar chart illustrates the proportion of a pharmaceutical company’s annual sales from three distinct continents in a period of five years since 2002.
Overall, all surveyed regions witnessed a downward trend at varying degrees over the given period, except for Asia with a gradual increase. Notably, Asia generated the highest sales in the last two years of the period.
Looking closely at America, at the outset, this region accounted for 41% of annual sales, which was the highest compared with 2 other surveyed regions. Thereafter, it underwent a decline to south of 27% in 2004 before finishing at 30% by the end of the period. A similar trend was also recorded in Europe as its annual sales decreased from 34% in 2002 to 30% in 2006, despite gaining a rise to 38% in 2004.
In contrast with the aforementioned continents, Asia experienced a rise in its sales. Commencing with 25% in 2002, which was the lowest figure, it witnessed a gradual increase to 35% in 2004 before ending up with 40% in 2006. Due to this growth, Asia surpassed America and Europe to become the region with the highest sales since 2005.
