The bar chart illustrates the proportion of internet adolescent users among different age groups in the UK between 2003 and 2006.
In general, the highest proportion of people who used the internet came from 16 to 24 aged people, while the opposite was true for the adults over 65 during the period. In addition, there was an upward trend in the rate of individuals who had internet usage from the youngest group to senior citizens.
In 2003, the percentage of people using the internet in the 16-24 age group was highest, at 80%, this figure remained unchanged and reached the peak at 100% in 2005 before slightly decreasing in the next year. In addition, there were 60% of people using the internet in the 45-55 age group, while the figure for those in 25-44 was slightly lower, around 50%. Moreover, the number of users using the internet in the 24-44 and 45-55 age groups gradually increased and had the same rate, at 80% at the end of the period.
Regarding the elderly people,in 2003, there were around 30% and 18% of people using the internet in the 55-60 and over 65 age groups. Meanwhile, the figure for those age groups rose slightly, from 50% to 20% in the next three years.
