The bar chart illustrates the proportion of women in a selected country, aged between 16 and 25, participating in and spectating sports activities. The sports included are tennis, gymnastics, basketball, badminton, golf, horse riding and racing. Overall, it is clear that tennis and basketball were two sports that women were more interested in while horse riding and racing were the least popular.
In 2000, tennis sport had the highest percentage of spectators, with 60% of females watching it, while just 30% of females actually played tennis. Unlike tennis, both playing and watching basketball were nearly equally popular among females, with participation and viewership rates at approximately 50% and 55%, respectively. These were the two sports attracting the most females in the surveyed country.
In contrast, the remaining sports saw considerably lower female engagement. The percentages of female golfers accounted for 30% of females, three times the number of females who watched it. Less than 20% of females participated in or watched gymnastics, badminton, or horse riding and racing. Specifically, the figures for horse riding and racing were just under 5%.
