The bar chart compares how many women from 16 to 25 years old participated in sports to those who watched them in a country in 2000.
Overall, women aged 16-25 tended to watch them rather than participating in sports, except for badminton and golf. It can be seen that the percentage of females watching tennis was the highest of all.
60% of women in the survey said that they watched tennis, compared to only a half of them taking part in tennis. Similarly, the proportion of women watching gymnastics was twice as high as that of those who played it, at 20% and around 10% respectively. The percentage of those viewing basketball was 55%, which was 5% higher than that of those who played this game. Differences can also be seen in the figure for horse riding and racing; while 5% of women watching this activity, only a half of them engaging in it.
Regarding golf, the percentage of females playing this game was three times as high as that of those who watched it, with respective figures being 30% and 10%. As for badminton, just over 10% of women playing this sport, as opposed to nearly a half of those who watched it.
