The bar chart illustrates the proportion of women in the 16-25 age group in a country watching or participating in six sports in 2000.
Overall, the biggest difference was recorded in the percentage of females aged 16 to 25 who watched and took part in golf. Additionally, tennis, gymnastics, basketball, horse riding, and racing attracted more spectators than players, while the opposite was true for badminton and golf. Moreover, a staggering percentage of women in the 16-25s were interested in basketball.
Regarding tennis, the rate of young females watching tennis was the highest data in the chart as their majority, twice as much as that of participants. Gymnastics, similarly, had the same difference between the two figures, but recorded in the lower data, with 20% and under 10% respectively. Furthermore, 50% of women of the same age were players in basketball, making it the most widely participated sport among people in this group, the reverse was true for horse riding and racing (about a mere 3%). However, women in the age group preferred to watch than play these sports, which were mentioned.
As can be seen, in 2000, there were 30% of females in this group participating in golf, while only 10% of the figure chose to observe it. At a smaller rate, badminton had the lowest percentage of women in the 16-25s watching it. Besides, players were more than spectators in this sport (approximately 5% and 10% respectively).
