The chart demonstrates how much was the portion of women and men, who had higher education qualifications, from five countries in 2001.
On the one hand, it is noticeable that in Germany, Switzerland and Japan there is a significant difference between the two genders. The males with higher qualifications in Japan accounted for 40%, whereas the females constituted only 25%, which was the lowest share of all five countries. Furthermore, in Switzerland the majority represented the men with 45%, which was the highest fraction of all countries. In contrast, the women with higher education there made up with 10% less. Likewise, in Germany the percentages were switched between the two genders.
On the other hand, in the United States and Britain there was only a 5% difference between males and females. In the USA the women’s share stood at 40% – higher than the men’s fraction. Whereas, in Britain the males constituted a higher proportion than the females, which was 35%.
Overall, the men with higher qualifications made up a bigger fraction than the women, with the exception of two countries.
