Overall, it is clear watching TV was the most popular free-time activity for both genders, whereas the opposite was true for that of playing computer games. Notably, women’s time spent for shopping was two times higher for that of men, as opposed to men who used internet double more than the opposite gender.
Looking at the chart in more detail, both genders spent about 75% of their free-time on similar activities. Men spend more time on watching TV, followed by doing exercises and reading with 82, 77, 75, 73 percentages respectively. Women followed closely behind on spending leisure time on these activities with 80, 78, 70 and 69 proportions, while as opposed to that of family time – where women keep in touch with family members slightly more than men.
Focusing on more unstable free-time activities, computer gaming was the least favorite activity for both gender in English in 2006, with 5% for women, double of that for men. Furthermore, shopping was the second least favorite for men with 30%, while women spend time on this twice as high as that of men – 74 percent. Compared to using the internet, where women spent about 40 percent of their time on this, the figure of that for men was two times higher than it.
