The chart below depicts the percentage of immigrants from six regions in 1987 and 1997. The total share has declined in three regions, meanwhile, in three others it has increased.
In both years, the highest percentage was reached by Europeans, regardless of the fact that it has decreased in the chosen time lapse. In 1987, the portion of European migrants approximately amounted to 33 percent. Conversely, the proportion of North and South Americans was the lowest both times. Additionally, it has even reduced, but this change was the tiniest one and amounted to around 1 percent.
Only once were the percentages equal. This happened in 1987, when the share of the Middle East and North Africa and Northeast Asia was the same. The highest rise was seen in Northeast Asia. If in 1987 it took only 15 percent, by the next research it had reached 24 percent. In other words, if in the first survey it shared fourth place, in the next one it was second
