The bar chart illustrates the percentage of people who lived in cities, towns, and rural areas in Australia in 1950 and 2010, in terms of those born in Australia and elsewhere.
Overall, it can be seen that living in urban areas was common in both 1950 and 2010. However, residents who lived in towns and rural regions are fewer than in cities.
In 1950, half of citizens born in Australia lived in a city. Meanwhile, the number of people born in Australia who lived in towns was only around 20% and remained at 30% for those who lived in rural areas. By 2010, there had been significant changes in their living areas. Plenty of people lived in urban areas rose sharply to 65%, while the proportion of humans lived in towns, and rural areas dropped by 15% for each region.
On the other hand, the percentage of people born outside Australia that lived in cities was around 60% in 1950, and 80% in 2010. The proportion of people who didn’t lived in Australia accounted for 40% in 1950; however, this figure decreased by approximately 5%.
