The pie chart depicts the proportion of different activities undertaken by the workforce in a day in a certain country in 1958 and 2008.
Overall, the data showed clearly that there was an upward trend in the commuting to workplace, working, and relaxing, while those of sleeping and going out witnessed a downturn. Particularly, working made up the largest share throughout the period.
A general increase over the 50-year period was observed in commuting, working and relaxing. Notably, the percentage of working had considerably gone up from 33% to 42% by 2008. Following this, relaxing at home underwent a rise of 5% in 2008, while that of travelling to work was four times as high as its initial level.
Whereas several activities increased, the amount of sleeping and going out showed a downward trend. In particular, 2008 witnessed a decrease in sleeping, which accounted for one-fourth of the total. Meanwhile, the time spent on going out had dramatically gone down to 6% at the end of the period. In both years, the data for other activities showed no change at 6%
