Overall, there were 5 themes: economics, sports, social, music, and movies. While sales of Social magazines experienced a dramatic drop, Movie and Economics titles saw significant overall growth. In addition, both sports and music experienced fluctuations. Meanwhile, the social sector declined.
Starting with Social and Movie magazines, they had mirror-opposite trends. In 2001, when the share of Social magazines decreased twice from 40% to 20%, the share of Movie magazines sharply rose by 20 percentage points from 4%. By the end of the period, the Social publications dropped to 4%, however, the popularity of the Movie magazines rose to 29%.
Turning to the periodicals about sports and music, both figures exhibited fluctuations. Music magazines accounted for around 18% in 2001, while Music one was 9%. However, data for Sports slightly increased to 24% and fell to 19% by the end of the period. Music magazines decreased to 4% before turning back to the initial point in 2009. Looking at Economics, figures remained stable at 24% before sharply increasing to 34% in 2009.
