The bar chart illustrates the number of both male and female learners enrolled in six different art-related subjects ( linguistics, philosophy, English language & literature, history & archaeology, art & design, communication & media study ) at a UK college in the year 2011.
Overall, linguistics, communication and media studies, and English language and literature were the most popular majors among both male and female students. In addition, the most substantial difference was in the quantity of males and females pursuing philosophy.
Looking at the charttable in detail, the number of female linguistics students stood at 240 students, 50 students higher than that of males. Similarly, female enrollment for the English language & literature started at 250 studentsfemales, in comparison with 230 male students. Moreover, the figure for the communication & media study was about 270 learners, compared to nearly 225 males.
As for the remaining subjects, the quantity of female philosophy students began with 150 students, three times as many as that of their male counterparts.
At 120 students, the figure for female history & archeology scholars, 30 pupils higher than males. As opposed to this, art & design attracted more males. The number of males studying the former subject were 175 students, 15 higher than female students.
