It is noticeable that football had the highest percentage of survey respondents over the period. By contrast, rugby had the lowest proportion throughout the period.
In 1995, around 42% of respondents were interested in football, while rugby, snooker, tennis and golf stood at just over 25% in the same year. Moreover, swimming had the smallest percentage by 1995.
However, the proportion of survey respondents interested in football was also biggest in the following two years, at about 43% in 2000 and at 45% in 2005. Furthermore, the figures for snooker and tennis were similar levels, at nearly 22% in both years. Finally, swimming had the biggest at approximately 30% in 2000, whereas golf accounted for the cheapest at about 25% in 2005.
