Looking at the chart in more detail, in 1995 the percentage of people who preferred to play football was 42%. Additionally, about 22% of people were interested in swimming, while approximately 24% of people were interested in rugby. In the following years, football continued to dominate, with its figure rising to about 45% in 2005. Meanwhile, swimming peaked at 29% in 2000 before falling to 25% at the end of the period. Rugby followed the opposite trend, with its figure dropping to 19% and then increasing significantly to 27%.
Regarding the remaining sports, in 1995 snooker accounted for 30% of the interest, while the figure for tennis and golf was 29% and 27% respectively. Thereafter, both snooker and tennis saw a decline, ending up at around 25% each in the final year, whereas the percentage of people interested in golf decreased to 25% in 2000 and finished the period at 26%.
