Taking a closer look at breakdowns of reasons for cycling reveals that both fitness and concerns for pollution are tied at 30%. Having no place to park comes in third with 15%, followed closely behind by absence of regular costs (13%) and shorter time compared to automobiles (12%).
Meanwhile, 40% of all surveyed drivers point out that comfort is the primary reason for them to use cars for commuting. The second most common reason is distance to the workplace. It is also interesting to note that 14% of drivers utilize cars bacause of its advantage on required time as 12% of cyclists choose to ride a bike for exactly the same reason. In addition, the necessity to carry items to the workplace account for 14% and the remaining 11% is attributed to safety.
