The stacked bar graph shows the proportion of different elements required for making 1000 polystyrene and paper cups.
Overall, it is clear from the graph that production of polystyrene cups is environmentally friendly require less amount of energy and wood while 1000 paper cups need huge amount of wood and energy.
According to given statistics, the amount of water varies considerably as 0.6m^3 needed for polystyrene cups. This figure increases significantly for paper cups i.e. 10m^3. Additionally, the proportion of Electricity and Petroleum represents a dramatic surge in both cases. Former ranges from 6 to 78KW and the latter ranges from 8-18kg.
Furthermore, the 130kg of steam used in making polystyrene cups while this number decline to just 0.56kg in paper cups. By contrast, other chemicals had the same trend experienced a substantial fall from 13kg to 8kg. Wood is another important resource but polystyrene production requires no wood. Whereas, large amount of wood is required in case of paper cups.
