The bar chart illustrates the percentages of people in five Australian cities contain Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Hobart, who bought or consumed coffee and tea in various forms over the past four weeks.
Overall, going to a café for coffee or tea was the most popular activity in most cities, except for Adelaide. Additionally, instant coffee was more commonly purchased than fresh coffee in all five regions.
To begin with, Melbourne had the highest proportion of people visiting cafés, at around 63%, slightly more than Sydney, where approximately 61% of residents did the same. In both cities, just over 45% of people bought instant coffee, while fresh coffee purchases were slightly lower, at roughly 44%.
Looking at the remaining cities, Hobart had the highest percentage of citizens going to cafés, at the same class with Malbourne with about 64%, while Brisbane and Adelaide had the lowest share with 55% and 39%, respectively. Surprizingly, buying instant coffee was most popular in Brisbane and Hobart, both at around 53%, followed by Adelaide with 50% of residents chose this option.
Regarding fresh coffee, the lowest percentages were seen in Brisbane and Adelaide, both at approximately 34%. Meanwhile, Hobart had a slightly higher figure, at about 38%. In contrast, the fifth and fourth ranked in the ratio of instant coffee consumer namely Sydney and Malbourne in turn, which had the highest proportion of people bought fresh coffee with above 42%.
