The charts illustrate the distribution of visitors to four distinct four types of tourist destination and five distinct theme parks in England in 1999.
Overall, the number of people visited to theme parks and museums & galleries seemed to take up a predominant proportion, while that of Wildlife Parks and Zoos account for the smallest percentage. It is also notable that the percentage of people who visited Blackpool Pleasure beach exceeded that of the four remaining theme parks.
In 1999, the proportion of tourists choosing museums and galleries as their tourist destinations was 37%, approximately matching the figure of Theme Parks (38%) , which was also the most attractive tourist destination in Britain during that time. Both figures fourfold the number of visitors to Wildlife park and zoos. At the same time, the percentage of people who went to Historic House and Monuments was exactly 16%.
In all five theme parks, roughly half of the tourists (47%) had been to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Alton Tower was the second most popular amusement park, with 17% visitors, and following by Pleasureland and Southport, 16%. In addition, both Chessington World of Adventures and Legoland, Windsor each made up exactly 10% of the surveyed visitors.
