The bar chart illustrates the top ten countries of the
production and consumption of electricity in 2014. Overall, it is clear that most countries generate more energy than they consume, with Germany being the sole exception.
According to the bar chart, China was the top country in both making and using electricity, with 5,389 billion kWh produced and 5,322 billion kWh used. The United States is second, producing 4,009 billion kWh and using 3,866 billion kWh. Russia was in third place, with both numbers being about four times lower than China. There were only three countries where both production and use of electricity were over 1000 billion kWh.
For the remaining countries, only Japan and India were both producing and consuming about 600 billion kWh. Other countries such as Canada, France, Brazil, and Korea Rep had numbers between 450 and 560 billions kWh. Noticeably, Germany was the only country where electricity use was higher than production, with 526,6 billion kWh produced and 582,5 billion kWh used.
