Overall, the highest percentage of female members and the lowest percentage of male members belonged to Brazil. A striking feature of the chart is that the percentages of women and men were equal in Australia, while it ranked second with regard to the percentages of males and female gym members among all countries. In addition, in France, the percentage of men was lower than that of women. In contrast, in Germany, the proportion of females was lower than that of males.
In 2000, in Brazil, the figure for female gym’s members stood at nearly 50%. In contrast, the percentage of male gym members was approximately 25%. In Australia, the proportions of men and women gym members were equal (nearly 45%).
