The chart shows the percentage of men and women overweight in Australia over a period of four years from 1980 to 2010
Overall, the percentage of men who are overweight is higher in al the year’s except in 2000 where the percentage of men and women overweight was same. In 2000 the percentage of males and females being overweight was the highest. The percentage of girls being overweight has increased throughout the years.
In 1980, the percentage of males being overweight stood at a value of about 48% while women stood at a value of 30%. However, in 1990 the figures of boys being overweight increased slightly to a value of almost 51%. Similarly, in 1990 the percentage of ladies being overweight increased sharply to value of 40%.
Furthermore, in the year 2000 there was a dramatic increase to 70% of guys being overweight while figures of women who were overweight also rose to 50% but still remained lower than men.
However, in 2010 percentage of boys who were overweight reduced slightly to a value of 68%. In contrast, the percentage of women being overweight neither increased or decreased but remained in the same value as in 2000.
