Overall, while the figure for males was more than double that of females in 1992, the two figures became almost equal by the end of the period. Moreover, biology stood out among other subjects with consistently higher figures each year, despite a decline in the final year. All figures showed a marked decrease in the final year, except for computer science.
Looking at males and females, males recorded the highest figure in 1992, at about 65%, while females were at around 32%, less than half of the male figure. By 2012, the figure for males had declined noticeably to 50%, whereas females rose to approximately 45%, showing an increase by the end of the period.
As for subjects, Biology was the dominant subject each year, accounting for about 65% in 1992 and around 42% in 2012. In 1992, Physics and Computer Science recorded markedly lower figures, at about 22% and merely 3% respectively. By the final year, while Physics showed a slight decrease to 20%, Computer Science recorded a noticeable increase to approximately 23%.
