The graph provides information about the changing patterns of intake of three different kinds of fast food by youth in Mauritius between 1985 and 2015.
As can be seen, although the consumption of fast food showed a few fluctuations from year to year, we can identify some general upward and downward trends. As regards pizza, it decreased over the years, dropping slightly from 60 times eaten per year to 10 times in 2015.
By contrast, teenagers ate more hamburgers through the years. Its figures rose significantly from 10 times in 1985 to 71 times in 2015. There has been a steady increase in the fried chicken index from 1985 to 1990 (5 to 10 times respectively). After that, the figure climbed gradually and peaked at 60. Likewise, it levelled out at 60 times between 2005 and 2010, followed by a steady increase to about 64 times.
It is noticeable that the index of fried chicken consumption was the only one which made some oscillation whereas others just rose or declined over the years.
