The pie charts illustrate how much water was used for six different products (vegetables, cereal, lime, fruits, rice, and dandelion), and the total income which was generated from these products in 2004.
Overall, while vegetables consumed the highest amount of water, the most notable income came from fruits. Additionally, although rice required a lot of water to grow, it generated little income.
In 2004, vegetables accounted for 46% of water, followed by fruits at 28%. However, the income from the latter was 9% greater than that of the former (31%). Interestingly, the respective amount of water used for lime and cereal was 8% and 12%, which was identical to the figure for their incomes.
Notably, despite requiring 3% of water for cultivation, rice only generated 1% of the total income, showing its relative inefficiency. In contrast, dandelion, which utilized only 3% of water, generated 8 times more income than rice.
