The pie chart illustrates the distribution of the workforce in the UK and it highlights the changes from 1932 to 1992.
In 1932, almost half of the workforce consists of industry workers, as seen in brown. Following that, represented by a pale pink, around 25% of of the 1932 workforce is unemployed. Services as well as agriculture and fishing set at a relatively similar percentage; 15% and 12% repectively. While, the government is made up of only 3% of workers.
In contrast, the percentage of industry workers experiencies a sharp decline to 15% in the year of 1992. This is similar to services portion before. However, now, it occupies more than 50% of the UK’s workers. The government increased its size by 12% and has a similar percentage to unemployment which is at 11%. Lastly, there was not a significant change in agriculture and fishing, only a 4% difference, showing that they are a staple in the workforce.
