The bar chart gives information about number of males and females (in million people), who watched one of four movie genres at the cinema in 2018, while the pie chart illustrates the age distribution of cinema visitors.
Overall, men showed the strong preference for action films, whereas women preferred to watch historical dramas. Western movies were the least popular with both genders. In addition, the majority of cinemagoers were under 44 years old.
As is seen, slightly above 45 million men went to see action movies, and almost 30 million women did the same. Moreover, romcoms were popular with well under 40 million males and with more than 25 million females. Marginally above 30 million women watched historical dramas compared to below 25 million men. As for western movies, popularity was not different to a huge extent, with 5 and considerably less than 10 million male and female viewers, respectively.
It is clear from the pie chart that 26-44 age group was commonly represented (38%). There was 31% of persons aged 18-25, and a quarter of those aged 45-55. However, only 6% of cinema attendees were older than 56 years old.
