The line graph illustrates the number of students from four different continents (Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America) who enrolled in UK universities at 5-year intervals from 1995 to 2015.
Overall, the number of students from Asia and North America increased, albeit at different rates, with Africa experiencing the most significant growth. In contrast, the figures for Europe fluctuated throughout the period. Notably, the disparity between continents widened towards the end.
In 1995, the number of students from Asia started at 60. This figure increased dramatically from 65 in 2000 to 110 in 2010 and continued to rise, reaching an all-time high of 120 in 2015. Meanwhile, the figures for North America stood at 40 in 1995, remained unchanged until 2000, and then decreased marginally by 5 before rising significantly to about 70 in 2015.
Europe and Africa saw less dramatic changes. The number of students from Europe fluctuated between 50 and 55 from 1995 to 2015. Africa started with 20 students in 1995, maintained this level until 2005, then rose slightly to 25 followed by drop to its initial number by the end of the period and hitting the lowest point on the chart.
