The bar graph illustrates the number of British men and women pursuing further education on either full time or part time basis from the period 1970/71 to 1990/91.
At first glance, it is noted that part time education is the most preffered mode of study for both men and women across the study period, while full time student gradually increase over the years.
The average number of male student partaking part time education is about 900000, although the number fluctuates over the years with the highest number recorded in the year1970/71 and the lowest recorded in the year 1980/81. As for full time studies, the number of students progressively increases with the highest number recorded in 1990/91.
Their female counterparts on the other hand, have had a considerable rise in students pursuing both full time and part time modes of study, with the highest recorded in 1990/91 for both modes of education recording at slightly above 200000 and 1100000 respectively.
