By a stark contrast, starting 1997, it speeded up, reaching 1 in 1999. From that year onward, it began growing rapidly, and kept its pace until the end of the timeframe, finally reaching the peak of 8.8 in 2004.
However, the subscribers of landlines showed neither a noticeable decrease nor increase. It stood at 1.7 in 1994 and was dominant till 2000. In contrast, by the upcoming years, mobile phones took over, landlines continued to rise steadily, finally climbing to 3.1 in 2004.
