The table presents the internet market sales of eBay and Amazon, quantified in billions of US dollars, between the years 2014 and 2017.
In general, both companies experienced an upward trajectory in the duration of the study. However, only Amazon garnered an obvious trend rather than eBay with the latter having a slow ascent. Still, both webstores peaked at the end of the research period.
At the start of the study, Amazon recorded 88.9 billion US dollars’ worth of sales which significantly rose to nearly 110 billion the next year. Subsequently in 2016, the company accumulated an estimate of above one-fourth increase from last year. Finally, market sales for Amazon reached their highest value in 2017, amounting to approximately 180 billion US dollars, which was almost double the initial value in 2014.
On the other hand, eBay’s online presence at the start was considerately poor as their total sales of 8.79 billion briefly reduced to 8.59 billion, which was their trend’s lowest. However, their sales completely bounced back the following year and reached the maximum amount of almost 10 billion US dollars at the end of the research duration. This was a significant 10% increase compared to their starting sales.
