Spending time with family was also a major activity, recorded at slightly above 75% for women and exactly 75% for men. Likewise, nearly three-quarters of both genders took part in sports or exercise.
However, there were some striking differences. Shopping was far more popular among women, with close to three-quarters participating, compared to only a little over 25% of men. Similarly, men were much more likely into using the internet, at just under 75%, whereas only 30% of women engaged in this activity. In contrast, computer games were not a major pastime for either gender, though men (around 12.5%) played twice as much as women (approximately 6%).
