The percentage of people who have moved house is presented by the bar chart. The data varies among four age ranges of people who moved house three to five years ago, in last three years and have not moved in the last five years . The vertical axis depicts pecentage of people and the horizontal one – age range.
From an overall perspective, it can be seen that the younger age groups tend to move more frequently, while older people are more likely to remain in the same home for longer periods. The highest mobility is observed among the middle aged group of people, whereas the 50+ group has the largest share of people who have not moved recently.
Among individuals aged 20 to 29, 45% moved house three to five years ago, making it the most mobile group in this category. A further 33% had changed their location within the last three years, while only 22% had stayed in the same place for at least five years. A very similar pattern is seen in the 30 to 39 age group: 44% moved three to five years ago and 34% moved more recently. Again, just 22% had not moved in the last five years.
For those aged 40 to 49, more than half (55%) had moved three to five years earlier, which is the highest proportion among all groups. However, only 14% had not changed residence for over five years, the lowest figure overall. In contrast, the 50+ group demonstrates lower mobility: only 17% moved in the last three years and 41% moved between three and five years ago. This oldest group also has the highest percentage (42%) of people who had not moved during the previous five years.
