The pie charts illustrates the main reasons why teenagers use their phones from 2016 to 2019 in an African country. Overall, it is clear that in all of the years, the main cause for using the cellphones is for social networks, which is followed, by a great margin, by sending or reading emails. The third most common reason is taking pictures with the camera, and in last place are phone calls
Focusing on social apps, it flucutuated constantly near the 50% porcent of the causes each year. With their peak being in 2019 with 56% of involvement. In contrast, the lowest year is 2017, with 48%.
The second recurring reason for adolescents to use their phones is for Email. This is continuously almost a quarter of the main causes, fluctuating between 19% up to 25%, according to the surveys. However it’s important to highlight that this reason has experimented a slight fall back every year.
The third most common reason for the usage of cellphones is the digital camera, that is constantly near the 15% until 2017. Since then, it has been climbing gradually to 20% in 2019.
Lastly, the least main reason that teens use their devices is for calling through them. Before 2018 the percentage was on avarage 11%, but in 2019 it experimented an important fall, when only 5% of uses was caused by phone calls.
