The three charts illustrate the age of Little Chalfont library members and the total loans by each category in the same year 2016, along with the annual loan totals from the year 2007 to 2016. Overall, it is obvious that the majority of library members are those from 28 to 64 years old, besides, the loans are given the most to children’s and adult fiction compared to the lowest ones recorded in child’s DVDs, young adults and adult audio books. Additionally, the total loans stayed relatively high throughout the given period and peaked in 2016.
Regarding library members with their own age, 51% of them were people aged between 18 and 64, significantly higher than other age groups. The percentage of children in the library was 22%, 7% higher than that of young adults who were at the age of 13 to 17, while the seniors (65+) represented the smallest, at only 12%.
With regard to the total loans by each category, children’s and adult fictions accounted for the highest figure in the second chart ( 38% ), by far higher than other categories. Only 1% was seen in children’s DVDs and 2% in both young adults and adult audio books. Adult non-fiction stood at 13%, roughly double the share of children’s non-fiction (6%).
From 2006 to 2017, the total number of books borrowed from the library never fell below 15.000 annually. The first three years (2007 to 2009) and 2013 fluctuated between 15,000 and 20,000, whereas the other six years all exceeded 20,000, culminating in a peak of approximately 23,000 in the year 2016.
