The pie charts illustrate the distribution of electronic-game players in Korea in 2003, according to their age, gender, along with the types of games they preferred.
Overall, it is clear that people under 18 constituted the largest proportion of electronic-game players, while those aged over 36 represented the smallest group. Males considerably outnumbered females among players. In terms of game preferences, action games were by far the most popular, whereas education and role-playing games were the least preferred categories.
Looking first at age, people under the age of 18 accounted for the largest numbers, at 39%, closely followed by those aged between 18 and 36, at 38%. In contrast, only 23% of individuals were over 36.
Turning to gender, there was a substantial difference between men and women. Males accounted for 72% of the total, more than twice the percentage of females, at 28%.
Regarding game preferences, the proportion of action games was 43%, which far exceeded that of sport and racing, with respective figures at 20% and 17%. Meanwhile, education and role-playing games were equally popular, at 7%.
