Prices then rose steadily, reaching $75 on Friday, slightly lower than the Monday peak, before dropping to $50 on Sunday. In week 2, fares were generally lower and less volatile, starting and ending at $50 on Monday and Sunday, respectively, with modest fluctuations in between.
Turning to the Melbourne-Sydney route, Friday consistently recorded the highest fares in both weeks, peaking at $80 in week 1 and falling to $60 in week 2. By contrast, prices from Tuesday to Thursday remained stable at $35 throughout the period. While Monday fares declined from $60 in week 1 to $40 in week 2, ticket prices on Sundays were unchanged at $50.
