The chart provides data about the highest world producers of milk, cheese, butter, and milk powder in 2012.
Overall, the EU produced the most milk and cheese. The production of milk was much higher than that of cheese, butter, and milk powder.
As can be seen from the chart, the EU produced almost 143,000 metric tons of milk, compared with 127,000 metric tons in India and around 90,000 metric tons in the United States. The production of cheese in the EU was just over 7,000 metric tons, while the United States produced almost 5,000 metric tons and Brazil produced 700 metric tons, making it the lowest producer in this category.
Regarding the remaining categories, India led world production of butter with 4,500 metric tons, over two times higher than the figure for the EU, with the production in the USA totaling just over 800 metric tons. It is noticeable that China produced 1,200 metric tons of milk powder, a slightly higher figure than that of the EU and New Zealand, with 770 metric tons and 1,110 metric tons, respectively.
