The charts compare teenagers’ preferences for three fast-food restaurants (McDonald’s, KFC, and Burger King) in Vietnam and Indonesia in 2017, as well as predictions for 2027.
Overall, teenagers in both countries favoured different restaurants in 2017, but the trends are expected to change by 2027. Vietnam is predicted to shift towards KFC, while Indonesian teenagers are likely to continue preferring McDonald’s.
In 2017, the most popular fast-food chain among Vietnamese teenagers was KFC, chosen by 52.8%, followed by McDonald’s at 43.1%. Burger King was the least preferred, with only 4.1%. However, by 2027, KFC’s popularity in Vietnam is expected to drop to 39%, whereas McDonald’s is predicted to become the most preferred option at 57.4%. Burger King will remain the least popular, rising only slightly to 6.1%.
In Indonesia, McDonald’s dominated in 2017, accounting for 60.8% of teenage preferences. KFC ranked second with 23.3%, while Burger King attracted 15.9%. The forecast for 2027 shows McDonald’s decreasing to 48.5% but still staying in first place. At the same time, KFC is predicted to rise to 39.2%, and Burger King will fall slightly to 12.3%.
Overall, McDonald’s is expected to gain popularity in Vietnam but lose some in Indonesia, while KFC shows the opposite trend. Burger King remains the least preferred in both countries throughout the period.
