The pie charts compare adolescents’ preferences for three fast-food restaurants in Vietnam and Indonesia in 2017, together with projected figures for 2027.
Overall, Burger King was the most popular choice among Vietnamese adolescents in 2017, but McDonald’s is projected to overtake it by 2027. In Indonesia, McDonald’s was the leading choice in 2017 and is expected to retain this position in 2027, despite a decline in its share.
In Vietnam, Burger King accounted for the largest proportion of preferences in 2017, at 52.8%, followed by McDonald’s at 43.1%. KFC was considerably less popular, accounting for just 4.1% of preferences. In contrast, McDonald’s dominated the Indonesian market, representing 60.8% of adolescents’ choices. KFC ranked second at 23.8%, while Burger King accounted for the remaining 15.4%.
The projections for 2027 indicate a notable shift in preferences in Vietnam. McDonald’s is expected to become the leading choice, with its share rising to 57.4%, while Burger King is projected to fall to 39%. KFC is expected to remain the least popular option, although its share is predicted to increase slightly to 6.3%. In Indonesia, McDonald’s is forecast to remain in first place despite a decline to 48.5%. KFC is projected to increase substantially to 39.2%, whereas Burger King is expected to remain the least popular choice, at 12.3%.
