The pie charts illustrate the changes in the proportion of energy sources used in a country between 1985 and 2003.
Overall, natural gas maintained its position as a dominant engery throughout the period despite its slight decrease in 2003. In addition, natural gas and the nuclear power recorded an upwward trend while the remains were considerable increases, except for hydrogen’s figure, remained stable throughout the period.
Regarding the major energy resources, in 1985, natural gas accounted for more than half past the energy production, at 52%, through 18 years, the data declined significantly to 39%, less 13% than 1985 . In contrast, the figure of oil production and coal production started respectively at 13% and 8% in 1985, both of them rose considerably to 23% and 22% in 2003.
Looking at the remaining categories, while nuclear production witnessed a subtaintial drop from 22% to 8%, losing 14%, the figure of other renewable generated, which accounted for 1% in 1985, recognized fourfold increase to 4% in 2003. One exception that remained unchange through 18 years was hydrogen generated, which accounted for 4%.
