The pie charts provide information about the percentage of energy which was generated from 6 different types of sources in a nation between 1985 and 2003.
Overall, the percentage of energy from oil, coal and other renewable sources increased over the period, while the figure for the remaining fields decreased. Although there was a reduction in the energy production of natural gas, the figure for that was still the highest in both years.
As regards the first, energy production by coal increased significantly by 14% from 8% in 1985 to 22% in 2003. Besides, an increase of 10% was seen in the figure for production of oil, which was equal to that of coal. Secondly, hydrogen remained stable between 1985 and 2003 at 4%, which was equal to that of other renewable resources in 2003, the least important energy in this country. Thirdly, although the proportion of energy production from natural gas decreased significantly by 13%, it was still highest at 39% in 2003. Meanwhile, the figure for nuclear energy also decreased rapidly from 22% in 1985 to 8% in 2003.
