Overall, dogs and cats remained to most popular pets, although their sheirs decreased over the period. By contrast, fish and reptiles became more popular. Dogs were althought the most expensive pets keep, well fish was the cheapest. Keeping fish was 400 pounds cheaper than keeping dogs.
In 2010, dogs and cats were the most popular pets, 40% and 27% respectively. The lower places were occupied by fish and birds, 15% and 12% respectively. Reptiles took the last position in the rating, only 6%.
In 2020, dogs and cats had the leading positions, but these figures became lower, 34% in dogs and 24% in cats. Propotion of birds decreased by 1%, too. However, fish and reptiles increased in popularity. Fish had 20% and reptiles had 11%.
In 2020, the priciest pets were dogs, 520 pounds and cats, 380 pounds. Annuals spending on reptiles was reletevely close to that on cats, 340 pounds. Birds and fish were the cheapest pets in UK, only 210 pounds and 120 pounds.
