The two pie charts illustrate data on how much time young people spend on leisure activities in a given country between 2009 and 2019.
From a global perspective, television and music are the main types of activities practiced by teenagers, which remained in similar proportions throughout the period in question. Another interesting point is that ten years later there was a dramatic increase in the use of the internet in free time.
Looking at the details, music accounted for the largest percentage of time spent at 24%. Following, sports (21%) and television (19%) were practiced as second and third options. Additionally, cooking accounted for 16% of young people’s free time in the first year. The least popular type were internet use, with 12%, and walking, with just over 8%.
In contrast, in the following decade, the biggest change occurred with the internet, growing 26% compared to 10 years ago. In addition, television and music still remain popular options. Sports and cooking saw a considerable decline, with each decreasing around 10%.
Walking was also the least popular this year, at 3%.
