Overall, the ownership of those three appliances increased with the use of refrigerator having the biggest rise. Moreover, the amount of time spent on chores decreased during this period.
In the first year recorded, the usage of refrigerator saw the most dramatic increase from the lowest to a peak of 100% in 2019. Similarly, owning vacuum cleaner rose from 30% to 100%, while having washing machine rose in the two recorded years from 40% to 70%, then slightly dropped to around 65%. However, this claimed up to around 70% in the last years.
In addition, a glance at the second graph provided reveals that the amount of hours spent on housework decreased from 50 hours per week to about ten, a with steep decline in the first few decades, followed by a slower fall from 1980 onwards
