The charts compare the percentage of houses with three various types of home appliances, such as washing machine, refrigerator and vacuum cleaner and the house owners time dedication for doing chores in one part of the world throughout 100 years. Overall, the index of households with electrical equipments has grown by the years, meanwhile the hours of housework have dramatically decreased.
According to the chart, in 1920 the portion of the population with refrigeration and washing machine was approximately the same, there was only a 10 percent difference between them. The number of both appliances had risen until 1960, when two of them reached the same point. However after 1960, the washing machine percentage dropped, while the refrigerator’s amount increased and peaked at the highest point. In the same year, the washing machine percentage demonstrated the improvement once again. Shifted to the vacuum cleaner, it’s obvious that the index got the ideal spot for about 40 years, without any drops, and helding this position.
The amount of housework time fall gradually from 50 hours per week to 10 hours by 2019.
