The charts illustrate the distribution of World’s water and the percentage of water use in three different countries such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Canada.
Overall, salt water dominates the world’s water, while most fresh water is surrounded by ice and glaciers. Moreover, in Egypt and Saudi the purpose of using water for agriculture is the highest proportion, whereas Canada primarily uses water for industrial purposes.
Concerning the composition of the world’s water, salt water accounts for 97% of the total, leaving only 3% as fresh water. Of this limited freshwater, the largest proportion 79% is locked in ice and glaciers. Ground water represents 20%, while surface water makes up a mere 1%.
As for the use of water, agriculture dominates water consumption in both Egypt and Saudi Arabia, accounting for approximately 80%. Domestic use comprises a smaller amount, with Egypt using around 13% and 15% for Saudi Arabia. Industry is the lowest in both countries, at roughly 5% in Egypt and 11% in Saudi Arabia. In contrast, industrial water usage is the largest fraction at approximately 70%. Agriculture accounts for a smaller share at about 10%, while domestic use is higher at roughly 20%.
